At Virgin Trains, they are not just creating a faster and cheaper way to travel, it’s also a greener way to go. It is a proven fact that travelling by train, especially with Virgin Trains, means you are responsible for lower amounts of CO2 over your journey, which makes your all-important carbon footprint much smaller. It’s not just lowering CO2 that helps their green credentials... in 2009 Virgin Trains also rolled out their new First Class out onto the rails. Their new service features locally-sourced British produce in their food and new crockery and table place settings (also produced on home soil). Sourcing and manufacturing in Britain means they can support local industry, bring you the very best of British, and lower the carbon footprint of their whole onboard service. Virgin Trains also support the Fairtrade campaign, so all the hot drinks they serve onboard their trains are sourced ethically and in line with Fairtrade’s ideals.

Virgin Trains are not only dedicated to improving the experience on their trains, but also at the stations. They’re investing in the future of the stations for the benefit of their passengers. London Euston’s First Class lounge has been expanded and restyled, along with a brand new ticket office on the main concourse. Liverpool Lime Street is getting a whole new look complete with a brand-new First Class lounge. Runcorn will receive more car parking spaces (to make finding that space just a little bit easier). Warrington Bank Quay has already had a total refurbishment which includes the station buildings and car park. Plus there’s a whole host of other improvements taking place right across their network.
