4 Mar 2009 0:00
Built in 1819 with a rich history, this landmark building has been transformed into a luxury hotel offering Apex style, comfort and exceptional service.
Apex Hotels, one of the UK's leading independent group of 4 star hotels, is opening their latest hotel development in Edinburgh, opening March 2009.
Situated on Waterloo Place at the east end of Princes Street, the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel is moments from Waverley train station and close to the main shopping district. With a rich history, this landmark building was the first large scale hotel in Edinburgh and Apex plan to return the property back to hotel trading by investing in excess of £30 million to achieve 187 contemporary design led bedrooms, each offering the latest in business facilities and state-of-the-art entertainment systems.
Apex Waterloo Place Hotel’s collection of five super-stylish private rooms will provide unique event spaces and are destined to exceed expectations. The Regent room with original oak panelling will be a spectacular setting for a variety of events from formal board meetings to elegant private dinners. The Waverley, Calton and Forth rooms are equally as elegant, with large Georgian windows creating spectacular spaces for events for up to 70. The Waterloo Place Suite is the largest and most glamorous making it ideal for cocktail parties, dinner dances or private dining for up to 120 guests.
For business meetings and small conferences, all rooms will come equipped with Wi-Fi, broadband, LCD projectors, flipcharts, a personal drinks bar, ISDN and air conditioning. Food will be second to none with a range of menus, from à la carte dinners to canapés and from breakfasts to buffets. Add to this, dedicated events co-ordinators and planning an event, whether private or corporate, will never be easier.

This four star deluxe hotel will bring Apex Hotel’s Scottish portfolio to five, with three existing sites in Edinburgh and one in Dundee.
Angela Vickers, Managing Director of Apex Hotels says: “The Scottish Executive have set an aspirational target of 50% growth in the value of Scottish tourism by 2015. In order to meet this growth target, a recent report on tourism accommodation within the Edinburgh city region has highlighted a requirement for 1500 additional beds of a four star standard. As we are already a major player in the Edinburgh accommodation market with our three properties consistently in high demand, we feel we are best placed to capitalise on this.”
